Clinton (Cy) Alvin Pherson Sr., 84, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo surrounded by his loved ones. Cy was born to Hoken and Helen (Brandt) Pherson on August 6, 1926, in Rutland, ND. He graduated from Forman High School and moved to Fargo, ND, where he met his loving wife Norma (Kay). They were married on May 17, 1949. Cy and Norma were blessed with four children as they made their home in Fargo. Cy worked for Cass-Clay Creamery as a wholesale route driver for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was passionate about rare coins, owning Cy’s Coins in downtown Fargo and acting as a dealer, appraiser and collector for 52 years, frequently attending regional and national coin shows. Cy and Norma have been members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo since it was organized in 1950. Cy was active in his faith and church community throughout life. Cy is survived by his wife, Norma; four children: Lauralee Marek, Moorhead, MN; Lavonne Pherson, Springfield, VA; Clint (Maggie) Pehrson Jr., Seattle, WA; and Joan Pherson, Fargo, ND; five grandchildren: Michelle Abbott, Melissa (Brandon) Marek-Donahue, Sabrina Pherson, Joshua Pehrson, and Gabriel Pehrson; and three great-grandchildren: Alton Abbott, Elijah Cy Donahue, and Peter Donahue; as well as many nieces and nephews. Cy was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters: Annie, Ethel, Florence, Eleanor, and Iona; and two brothers: Percy and Ernest. Cy’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Bethany on 42nd for their compassionate care over the past three months. Visitation: Friday, April 8 from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Funeral Services: Saturday, April 9 at 10:30 AM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Heart Association, or the American Diabetes Association.
