Clifford E. Heidt, 81, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo. Clifford E. Heidt was born March 20, 1929, on a farm near Arena, North Dakota, the son of Martin and Emelia (Leno) Heidt. He graduated from Tuttle High School in 1947, and attended Valley City State College after which he taught rural schools in Burleigh County for four years. After spending two years in the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, he taught one year in Kidder County. In 1954, he moved to Fargo, North Dakota, and graduated from Dakota Business College and attended Moorhead State University. After leaving school, he was employed by the Ford Motor Company and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company at their district offices in Fargo. In 1960, he started employment with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Dakota and retired as a manager in 1992, after employment there of more than 32 years. During his retirement, he served on the Medicare Beneficiary Advisory Committee and the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. On November 5, 1960, he married Dorothy Westland who was originally from Hatton, North Dakota. Cliff, along with Dorothy, enjoyed a trip to Norway, Germany and East Germany in 1985, and visiting his girls in New York and Massachusetts. Cliff is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Fargo, ND: his daughters, Connie (William) Honan, Rouses Point, NY; and Deann (Anil) Parmar, Marlboro, MA; granddaughters, Colleen and Mallory Honan, Rouses Point, NY; his sisters and brothers-in law, Anita and Carl Wagner; and Dorothy and Charles Scherbenske, all of Tuttle, ND; and Lorene and Harry Larson, Washburn, ND; and his brothers and sisters-in law, Earl and Violet, Bismarck, ND; Marvin and Marlyce, Cedar Rapids, IA; Donald, Rochester, MN; and James and Susie, Arena, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Emelia Heidt; and one brother, Wilbert Heidt; and sisters-in-law, Ardella Heidt and Agnes Heidt; brother-in-law, James C. Westland; and mother-in-law, Geneva Westland. Funeral Service: Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 10:00 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Wednesday, May 12, 2010, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 7:00 PM. Burial: Friday, May 14, 2010, at 1:00 PM, at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
