Clifford Lee Askew was born June 19, 1937 to Joseph and Leah (Bernath) Askew. He attended school and graduated from Lincoln High School in Casselton, ND. He was involved in student government, FFA, and many organizations. He played football for 4 years and was named to the All-Conference Team in 1955.
In 1955, he graduated and joined the armed forces in the 11th Airborne Division. He served as a paratrooper and military policeman. He was awarded the Expert Pistol medal, Expert Rifle medal and the Parachutist medal.
In 1959, he married Bonnie Marie Jendro. They raised four children on the Askew family farm at Casselton. In 1995, they moved to Fargo. Cliff continued to work on the farm until his later years. They enjoyed their condo by Island Park until his death.
Cliff was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and expert marksman. He was a devoted runner and enjoyed the trails in Fargo. He was an animal lover and enjoyed caring for his French mastiffs. He was a lover of books and literature. He had a collection of art that he enjoyed sharing with others.
Cliff is survived by his wife, Bonnie; son, Greg of Fargo, Jeff (Jodi) of Casselton; daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Roberts of Calhoun, LA; three grandchildren, Jordan Askew (Fargo), Jamie Askew (Spokane, WA), and Josh (Carley) Askew (Casselton); and three great-grandchildren, Jax, Addalyn, and Olivia of Casselton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Leah; his siblings, Robert and William; and daughter, Jessica.
There will be a private family service.
