Clarence (Ed) Brewer was born August 28, 1924 near Champaign, IL, the son of Ray and Gladys Brewer. The family later moved to La Porte, MN, and Ed moved to North Dakota in 1943. He enlisted in the US Navy, serving two years. Returning to ND, he met the love of his life, Gladys Hanson, and they were married June 11, 1950. They moved to Fargo in 1953, where Ed joined the Fargo Fire Department. He served as a firefighter for 36 years, retiring in 1990. Ed was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Ed died on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at his home at Edgewood Vista in Fargo.
He will be remembered for his chip carving, repairing and collecting clocks, the great love he shared with his family, his sense of humor, and that sly wink of his.
He leaves his wife Gladys; daughters, Pastor Marsha (Mike) Burt of Fargo and Cheryl (Kevin) Kemppanion of Rockledge, FL; three granddaughters, Kathleen (Brent) Speckhardt of Fletcher, NC; Charlene (Jason) Ramler of Minneapolis, MN; and Kimberly Kemppanion of Fargo, ND; two great-grandchildren, Caelan Ramler and Katija Speckhardt; brother Clyde of Shelton, WA; and two sisters, Ada Tzvani of Loveland, CO, and Catherine Jennings of Frankfurt, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and James; sister, Alice Kron; sons, Keith, Marshall, and Michael; daughter, Sheila Perry; and grandson, Kevin Kemppanion, Jr.
