Clair Eileen Skjold

May 17, 1992 — November 15, 2016

Clair Eileen Skjold, 24, passed away on November 15, 2016, in Fargo, ND. Clair was born to Jeff and Karen (Ziegler) Skjold on May 17, 1992 in Grand Forks, ND. She shared her Great Grampa Sliver’s birthday of Syttende Mai. She grew up in Grand Forks through kindergarten, then moved to Manvel, ND, where she attended Manvel Elementary through the 5th grade. The family packed their bags one more time, and move down the river to Fargo. She graduated from Fargo South High in 2010. During her time at South she was involved in choir, French club, swimming and diving, cheerleading and track. She achieved her Girl Scout Silver Award, and, as a reward, the troop raised the funds to go on an Alaska cruise. As a youth, she was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church, singing in the youth choir, helping with Sunday School, and attending the 2009 ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans.

Clair’s greatest love was caring for children. Whether babysitting, Sunday School, or daycare, Clair was the child-whisperer. Clair’s first “real” job was in a daycare. She had a way of entertaining and enjoying small children that came naturally to her. She enjoyed all ages, especially infants and toddlers. Her most recent job as a server at Doolittle’s Restaurant, allowed her to give from her servant’s heart.

When Clair wasn’t working, she kept up with her title as the “Pinterest queen.” She truly adored all things glitter, and many of her family and friends have the sparkly gifts, and glitter in their carpet, to prove it. During her late high school and early adult years, Clair was chased by the all too common demon of addiction. She struggled and made many attempts to release herself from those chains, but was never able to be completely successful. She was a beautiful, giving spirit, who had many more dreams to fulfill and we will never stop missing her.

Clair is survived by her parents, Jeffrey and Karen (Ziegler) Skjold; her brother, Khale Skjold; grandparents, Barbara Ziegler and Gwendolyn Skjold; aunts and uncles, Barry and Debra (Ziegler) Rasmuson, Steve and Dawn (Mack) Ziegler, Mark and Denice (Quinnell) Skjold, and Greg and Becky (Skjold) Kramasz; cousins, Kelsey Rasmuson, Ethan Rasmuson, Samantha (Ziegler) Forster, DeeAnna Ziegler, Stephanie Ziegler; Jessica Skjold, Alexa (Skjold) Ducioame, Dylan Skjold, Teagan Kramasz, John Kramasz, Melanie (Haugen) Zimney, Brooke (Haugen) Arnold, Andrew Haugen, Allison Weisgarber, Caleb Weisgarber, and Braylen Ziegler, along with many more great aunts, uncles, and second cousins.

Clair is preceded in death by her grandfathers, John Skjold and Larry (Grampa Zeke) Ziegler; recently her great-grandmothers, Anna (Fines) Haugen, Joy (Dinkel) Hartje, and K. Eileen (Rodgers) Ziegler; uncle, Thomas Ziegler, and great-uncle, Dan Ziegler.
