Cheryl Gorder, 70, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2016 at Essentia Health, Fargo after a year and a half battle with cancer.
Cheryl was born Geraldine Mary Pickar, to Rogene Pickar, on January 29, 1946 in Rochester, MN. She was adopted by Norris and Maurene Egge on August 15, 1947 and they named her Cheryl Lynn. She grew up on a farm near Hickson, ND and she graduated from Oak Grove High School in 1964. She married Jon Seaberg on June 12, 1965 and had two sons, Eric and Derek. She married Gary Gorder on November 2, 1974 and they raised their sons in Fargo, ND.
Cheryl was a homemaker, sold Weber grills, had a daycare, and worked at Equifax before finally retiring from Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Dakota. She filled her days with scrapbooking, quilting, and traveling with her husband. She spent many years volunteering in some way at the church or with the Boy Scouts of America. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the resort she owned, Serenity Bay Resort, on Lake Melissa. In 1997 Cheryl was reunited with her birth family and discovered she had fourteen siblings.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Eric and Derek (Beth) Gorder; daughter-in-law, Juanita Gorder; sisters and brothers: Ron (Ronalda) Evenson, Spearfish, SD, John (Joyce) Evenson, Sioux City, SD, Kelly (Renee) Evenson, New Town, ND, Sheila (Ron) Deserly, Sturgis, SD, Dennis (Joan) Bangan, Casper, WY, Richard (Mary) Bangan, New Town, ND, Robert (Charlene) Bangan, Garrison, ND, Ed (Mary Therese) Bangan, Missoula, MT, Arliss (Tim) Moe, Bismarck, ND, Nell (Chuck) Monson, Bismarck, ND, Corinne (Jon) Jensen, Franklin, WI, Candy (Mike) Overby, Spearfish, SD, Violet Gorder, Black Eagle, MT, Norma Gorder, Billings, MT, Janet Gorder, Boise, ID; six grandchildren, Brooke, Abbie, Cainan, Sabrina, Madison, and Harrison as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her puppy Meeko who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Norris and Maurene Egge and birth mother, Rogene Pickar; her sister, Dianne; brother, Lance and brothers-in-law, Roy, Dave, Ray, Clarence and Robert Gorder.
