Chery Eckre, 62, of Fargo, ND, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes on Monday, April 22, 2024, at her home.

Chery Jo Soberg was born on September 13, 1961, in Fargo, ND, to Harry and Darline (Evenson) Soberg. She attended schools in Fargo and graduated from Fargo North High School in 1979. Throughout her life, Chery worked at various places in North Fargo, including Camelot, Hornbachers, Loaf-n-Jug, and most recently Happy Days Childcare.

On September 14, 1985, Chery married Shawn Eckre in Fargo. They were blessed with two daughters, Brooke and Breah.

In 2007, Chery began a relationship with Keith Berg, and together they built their home in north Fargo.

Chery cherished attending her daughters' sporting events and later enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in the same way. She had a passion for antiquing, shopping, and decorating her home, finding immense joy in these activities.

An avid New York Yankees fan, Chery never missed watching a game and was also a dedicated follower of NDSU football.

Chery is survived by her fiance, Keith Berg; children, Brooke Eckre and Breah (Tony) Wisk, her grandchildren Wyatt and Elly, her mother Darline "Tiny" Soberg, her siblings Terry Mulvaney and Barry (Joan) Soberg, and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry; and many aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Hope Lutheran Church - North in Fargo, ND, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Osterdalen Lutheran Cemetery in Harwood, ND.
