Charlotte E. Owens, 90, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, January 14, 2012, at her home in Fargo. Charlotte Estelle Larson was born March 5, 1921, daughter of Charles and Esther (Vinje) Larson, at Gardner, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Nora Lutheran Church, Gardner. She grew up on the farm near Argusville and graduated from Argusville High School. Charlotte received her teaching certificate from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1939 and later taught at Isle, MN. She and Wayne Owens were married July 2, 1940 and spent the next five years moving about while he served in the US Army during World War II. After the war, Charlotte taught school at Zap, ND and worked at the Ramsey and Cass County ASCS offices from 1956 – 1971. She returned to college and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from North Dakota State University in 1974. Charlotte and Wayne moved to Fargo in 1963. Charlotte was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and served on church committees. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Charlotte is survived by her two sons, Thomas (Meredith) Grand Forks, ND; and Richard (Barbara) Bismarck, ND; daughter, Charlayne (Sam) Myers, Minneapolis, MN; Stelamaris Coser, foreign exchange daughter from Brazil; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Burton (Alice) Larson; Alworth Larson and Edgar (Mildred) Larson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne, and two brothers, Floyd and Maurice. Memorials may be sent to Nora Cemetery Association, Gardner, North Dakota or your favorite charity.
