Charles O. Leatherbury, 75, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND. Charles was born July 18, 1931, in Deale, Maryland, to Frank R. and Mattie V. (Riley) Leatherbury. He graduated from high school in 1948, in Annapolis, Maryland. He then went to work for his father at the harbor division of the B&O Railroad in Baltimore, Maryland. While there, with the help of his co-worker, they were able to save one of the supervisors who had fallen into the Harbor. In 1952, he went into the US Marine Corp and served during the Korean Conflict. After that was completed, he then returned home and entered the Baltimore Engineering Institute for a period of 1 ½ years. He worked for several plumbing and heating wholesale houses, the last being D.C. Sales of Fargo. He was married January 9, 1959, to Doris E. Toppen of Kindred, ND, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Annapolis, Maryland. They then moved to Mayo, MD, where they built a home and started their family. Keith, Laurie, and Dennis were born in Annapolis, MD, and then they moved to North Dakota in 1963. Cy was born in 1965. He is survived by his wife Doris, Fargo, ND; sons, Keith (Lisa), Freemont, NE; Dennis (Diane), Moorhead, MN ; and Cy Leatherbury, Aurora, CO; daughter, Laurie (Stuart) Johnson, Harwood, ND; a sister Isabelle; and seven grandchildren. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roland; sister Ailene. Funeral service: Monday, March 5, 2007, at 2PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior. Burial: Perhus Cemetery, Kindred, ND.
