Charles E. Herman was born in Ada, Minnesota on February 2nd, 1926 to Esther (Olson) and Charles Herman. He grew up in Ada, MN and later attended high school there. He attended his senior year and graduated from high school in Pasadena, CA. He received degrees from Hamline University, Concordia College, and his masters from NDSU. In 1950, Charles married the love of his life, Jean Palmer. Charles then went on to served in the army during the Korean war. For many years Charles farmed with his father and later went to work at Gate City Bank in Fargo. Charles worked for the Greater North Dakota Association. He ran his own business, Tax Deferred Investment Group with partner Art Bunker and served in the House of Representatives for the state of North Dakota for three terms prior to his retirement. They lived in Carlsbad and Cardiff California for many years before returning to live in Fargo in 1998. Charles passed away June 12th, 2010, Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife Jean, his sister Ruth, his son Paul and daughter in law Priscilla (Tompt), his daughter Holly and son in law John Butler, as well as three grandchildren, Leah, Emily, and Michelle. Charles' Memorial Service will be on Thursday, June 17th at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church in Fargo.
