Cecil Williams

Cecil A. Williams, Jr. 80, of Oceanside, CA, died Friday, October 24, 2008, at Las Villas De Carlsbad Nursing Home, Carlsbad, CA. Cecil was born August 11, 1928, in Fargo, ND son of Cecil A. and Helen S. (Sorenson) Williams, of Fargo, ND. He was a 1950 graduate of North Dakota State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 through 1953. In January 1954, he moved to San Diego, CA, to work for the Navy on North Island aircraft parts division and as a computer operator where he scheduled and kept track of jet aircraft repair. He loved to watch the San Diego Chargers in their “perennial pursuit” of the Super Bowl, to have a good red wine with a meal, to eat good food and eat it with people who loved to eat. He enjoyed opera and his favorites were “Tales of Hoffman”, “La Traviata” and “La Boheme”. He spoke German, Swedish and some Italian and Spanish. He had a very dry wit and a sense of humor which will be missed by those who loved him. Cecil is survived by his wife, Maj, Oceanside, CA; a sister, Lois W. (Wylie) Briggs, Detroit Lakes, MN; a brother, Douglas E. (Audrey) Williams, Grand Forks, ND; an uncle, Leland Sorenson, Minneapolis, MN; and many nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.
