Caroline G. Dregseth, age 100, died on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at her son's home in Grand Forks, ND, under the care of Ethos Hospice, surrounded by family.
Caroline G. Tosterud was born August 22, 1922, in Park Rapids, MN, to Charles and Gina (Espeland) Tosterud. She attended schools in Park Rapids and Nevis, MN, graduating from high school in Walker, MN. She went on to graduate from teachers training in Walker, MN, and continued her education at Minnesota State University. She taught for many years in various schools in Minnesota and North Dakota.
Caroline was a "War Bride" who married 1st Lt. Irving Dregseth on January 20, 1943, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. When he was overseas, she taught school in Minnesota until he was seriously wounded and was brought back on a hospital ship to the United States. After he was separated from the Army and put on "Inactive Reserves," they moved to Fargo.
She worked for Hanson Mechanical Trade School for 18 years and Farmers Insurance Group for over 33 years. Throughout her life, she was active in many church groups and was a member of the Sons of Norway and the Military Officers Association of America with her husband.
Caroline was preceded in death by her husband Irving on October 7, 2002. They would have been married nearly 60 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert Dregseth, three brothers, and four sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Marilyn (Steve) Lewandowski of South Windsor, CT, and her son, Richard (Jody) Dregseth of Grand Forks, ND; her daughter-in-law, Marjorie Dregseth of Fargo, ND; grandsons, Shawn (Kate) Lewandowski of Grand Forks, ND, and Trent Dregseth of Ann Arbor, MI; granddaughters, Shannon Schabek, of West Warwick, RI, Melissa (Steven) Bischof of Spring, TX, Jessica (Jason) Senti, of Malta, and Katie (Ty) Anderson, of Brooklyn Center, MN; great-grandchildren, Caroline Schabek, Parker Anderson, Elsie Senti, and Cecelia Schabek; along with several special nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many special friends, acquaintances, and other relatives.
Caroline's memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on October 22, 2022, at Hanson - Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
