Carol E. (Nelson) Wild, 73, died peacefully on March 12, 2020, at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
She was born February 17, 1947, in Valley City, ND, the only daughter of Alf and Margaret (Hoiberg) Nelson. She grew up on her family farm near Kathryn, ND and graduated in 1968 from Valley City State College. She started her career as an educator at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Fargo where she met and later married her husband, Larry E. Wild, of Bemidji, MN. She taught first grade for the majority of her 35-year career at Lincoln Elementary School. Carol also found time to earn a Master’s in Science Education in 1998 while raising a family and teaching full-time.
Together, Carol and Larry, raised 3 children; Michael, Jennifer and Sarah with whom she shared her love of music, literature, art and travel. She had a passion for the arts and shared a number of her varied talents: singing in the Olivet Lutheran Church choir, playing piano for the New Horizons Band, quilting, sewing and calligraphy. Hand-in-hand, she and Larry travelled the world, volunteered with many organizations and spent time with their much-loved grandchildren.
She had a great tenderness for children and touched the lives of many.
Carol is survived by her children; Michael Wild of Fargo, ND, Jennifer (Aaron) Wild of St. Paul, MN, and Sarah (Jonathan) Stout of Chapel Hill, NC; 8 grandchildren, Aberlee, Ana and Ava Wild, Harper and Isla Ferguson, Owen, Cooper and Harrison Stout; and her brother Dale Nelson of Kathryn, ND. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 48 years, Larry; her parents Alf and Margaret; and three brothers Glen, Allan and Mark Nelson.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Rosewood on Broadway and Hospice of the Red River Valley for the excellent care they provided to her in the end of her life.
A funeral service will be held at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home in Fargo, ND on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at 2:00 P.M., with a visitation starting at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
