Carol Ries, 68, of Fargo, ND, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010, at her lake home on West McDonald, near Dent, MN, surrounded by family, and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, after a six month battle with cancer. Carol Johnson was born December 9, 1941, in Fargo, ND, daughter of Norman and Mabel Johnson. She graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1959, and Interstate Business College in Fargo. She married Rodney Ries in July of 1960. They would have been married 50 years next month. They had two children, Dawn and Randy. The family moved to Moorhead, MN, from Minneapolis in 1970. She worked for several insurance companies in Fargo and in the Minneapolis, MN, area. Carol became a plant manager for One Hour Martinizing. She later became a general manager and regional manager for Camelot Cleaners. Carol was the backbone of the family and she loved pampering them. She enjoyed her time at the lake, gardening and decorating. Carol is survived by her husband, Rodney; and her daughter, Dawn (Lynn) Forde, Fargo, ND; sister, Nancy (Gabriel) Aberle, Dent, MN; and sister-in-law, Darlene (Hallard) Miller, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, John, Matt and Rachel Ries; and Evan, Eric and Elle Forde; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Randy Ries; and her brother, Glen Johnson Funeral Service: Monday, June 7, 2010, at 2:00 PM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
