Carol Lutes

Carol J. Lutes, 80, of Fargo, ND, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at Essentia Health, Fargo, surrounded by her loving family. Carol Jean Betcher was born February 5, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (Halvorson) Betcher. She grew up in Bejou/Mahnomen, Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1948. She moved to Bremerton, Washington, after graduating from college with a business degree. She worked at Bremer’s Department Store in Seattle, WA. She moved back to Fargo in 1953. Carol worked as head accountant at Wallwork Ford. She met and married Robert Lutes September 10, 1954, in Bejou, Minnesota. They made their home in Fargo. Carol loved life and her family, especially her granddaughter, Nicole. She was a very good cook. Carol was an avid volunteer for the Teamsters Auxiliary and Nativity Church, where she was a charter member and a CCD teacher. She was a Campfire leader and loved people. Carol is survived by her daughters, Barbara J. (Michael) Smith, Blooming Prairie, MN; and Cheryl (Kurt) Quanbeck, Aneta, ND; and one granddaughter, Nicole Smith, Ames, IA; five sisters, Mary Murray, Kensington, MN; Betty Bennke, Mesa, AZ; Babe Berge, Whitefish, MT; Connie (Leland) Ohren, Moorhead, MN; and Patty (Jack) Morefield, Glendale, AZ; and a special brother-in-law, David J. Lutes, Palm Desert, CA; and special friends, Carol Johnson and Ione Erickson. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert. Funeral Service: Friday, February 11, 2011, at 2:30 PM, at Nativity Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Vigil: Thursday, February 10, 2011, at 7:00 PM. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
