Carol Mae Jensen

Carol Mae Jensen passed away on November 24, 2023 at The Meadows, Fargo. Carol was born in Montpelier, ND, on May 16, 1925, to George and Emily Gullickson. As a child, she moved with her family to Wyndmere, ND, where she attended Wyndmere Public Schools. Carol graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1943 and continued her education at Dakota Business College, Fargo, where she graduated in 1945. Following graduation, she was employed by the NDSU seed department before working at Armour Creamery for several years.

On June 26, 1948, Carol married Ernest Jensen at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. The couple moved to Minot in 1952 and lived there for 23 years. Their two children, Susan and Kenton, grew up in Minot. While in Minot, Carol worked for the Minot Public Schools until the couple returned to Fargo in 1973. Fargo Public Schools was Carol’s next employer until she joined the NDSU Center for Child Development in 1975 as food production manager. Carol, known by the children at the center as “Gramma Carol” dedicated the next 20 years to young children and their families.

Carol was a member of Elim Lutheran Church.

She is survived by daughter, Susan (Bruce) Montgomery; son, Kenton (Mary) Jensen; granddaughter, Emilie (Rich) Hamilton; grandson, Christiaan (Chris) Montgomery; great granddaughters, Mae and Greta Hamilton; and great grandson, Hudson Hamilton.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; her parents; one sister; and three brothers.
