Carmen Herbert Christianson, 81, of Fargo, ND, died April 13, 2014 at Lilac Homes Memory Care in Moorhead, MN.
Carmen was born to Clarence and Olene (Jordheim) Christianson on October 10, 1932 in Fargo. Carmen was raised on a farm near Walcott. Carmen attended Viking Country School and graduated from Walcott High School in 1950. He played many sports with basketball being his favorite.
He married Betty Mae Brekke on August 23, 1952 at Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo. They’ve been married over 62 years.
Carmen was a lifetime member of the North Dakota Peace Officers. He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles, and Moose. Carmen and Betty enjoyed all the friends they made at each of the clubs. He also farmed with his father in the Walcott area. Carmen was a police officer with the Fargo Police Department for 30 years. After retiring in 1988, he worked with S & S Landscaping for 21 years driving semi to various places in MN and ND.
Carmen and Betty spent summers at their lake home on Lake Lizzie and their winters in their home in Mesa, AZ. They had many enjoyable times in both places with their family and many friends.
Carmen was a wonderful father and grandfather to his own family. He is survived by his wife, Betty, Fargo; son, Craig Christianson, Walcott, ND; daughters, Kim (George) Sholy, Fargo, ND; Kari (Bill Martodom), Detroit Lakes, MN; and 3 grandchildren, Krista Sholy, Daniel Sholy (Jenta Kim, fiancé), Christian Colman, all of Fargo, ND; and sister, Sissel Disbron, Colorado Springs, CO.
Carmen was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence H. and Olene (Jordheim) Christianson.
