Carlene Sahr

Carlene Sahr, 78, of Fargo, ND peacefully passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at MeritCare Hospital. Carlene Amy Sahr, daughter of Eugene and Myrtle Jefferson, was born on December 16, 1929 in International Falls, MN. She attended country schools in International Falls and Bonesack, ND; and attended high school in Page, ND. Carlene married Alex Sahr on December 19, 1946. They remained lifelong companions for 61 years. They made their home in Fargo, ND where they raised their family. Carlene helped support her family by doing childcare when her children were young, bookkeeping for the family business and retail and crafts. After retirement she loved her job at SAMS giving out samples from the bakery. Carlene was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she was active in church singing in the choir, a member of WELCA, quilters, great give-a-way, circle and helped in the kitchen. Carlene was also involved in her community volunteering for the senior center in their recreation and food services. She was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and was involved with the visiting program at the VA hospital. Carlene loved being a mom and grandmother. She made many homemade gifts for her children and grandchildren. She loved music, sports and was an avid fan of the Bison. Carlene is survived by her husband Alex; to sons Rondald (Kathy) Sahr, Sabin, MN; and Robert (Debra) Sahr, Fargo, ND; one daughter Jeanne (Jim) Mercer, Detroit Lakes, MN; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild; four sisters, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son (Douglas), two brothers, and one sister. Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Monday, June 30, 2008, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Monday, June 30, 2008, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
