Carl Edward Stenslie, 85, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Saturday July 28, 2007 at his home on his 65th wedding anniversary. Carl was born on October 17th, 1921, in McVille, ND to John and Tilda Stenslie. He graduated from McVille High School in 1940. Carl entered the Army Air Corps in July, 1942 and was discharged November, 1945. Carl attended UND, graduating in 1949. He started his career at ND Blue Cross and Blue Shield in 1949. He served as claims manager, director of physician and hospital relations, and sales manager. He was named Vice President of Marketing in 1971, retiring in 1985. On July 28, 1942 he married Alma Torgerson. They lived in Bottineau and Grand Forks, ND before moving to Fargo in 1952. They retired in Detroit Lakes in 1985. Carl is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alma; Children: Clyde Stenslie, Wolf Point, MT; Barbara Wilkes, Billings, MT; Layne(Bege), Deer Creek, MN; Keith, Fargo; Cheryl(Larry) Gray, Casper, WY; sister Doris, McVille, ND; 11 grand children, and 7 great grand children. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Kevin; brothers Leonard, Albin and Kermit; and sisters Myrtle, Ruth and Eleanor. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Red River Valley. Funeral Service: Wednesday, August 1st at 10am at First Lutheran Church, Fargo. Visitation: Tuesday, July 31st 4-6pm at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
