Calvin A. Sebelius, 90, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at his home in Fargo. He was born April 29, 1924 in York, ND, the only child of A. Noble and Clara (Justad) Sebelius. Cal graduated from York High School in 1942, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945 where he took flight training. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1948 and married Thelma Fauske on November 19, 1948 at Moorhead, MN. He was employed by the Amoco Oil Company from 1948 to 1982 as a sales representative and bulk oil station supervisor at Fargo, Kenmare, Edgeley, Moorhead, and finally Valley City in 1957. He was a member of the Valley City Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and El Zagal Flag Corp. Cal was also a member of, and on the church council of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where he frequently served as head lutefisk cooker at fund raising suppers. After moving to Fargo, he became a member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead.
Cal was an avid fisherman and golfer, enjoying his summer cottage on Crystal Lake and later spending the winter months on a golf course in Naples, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife; children, Beth (Perry) Hanson, Shoreview, MN; Steven (Paula) Sebelius, Moorhead, MN; Debra (Craig) Becker, West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
