Carroll Dean Ferguson was born April 18, 1930, in Elgin, ND, to Delbert and Ann (Reich) Ferguson. He graduated from Carson High School, ND, in 1948 and enlisted in the US Navy. He served as Naval Aviator in the Korean War and was released from active duty in 1955. He graduated from Jamestown College in 1958. He married Carol Will on November 25, 1954 in North Bend, OR.
Dean worked for Border States Electric Supply Company for 31.5 years retiring as Chief Financial Officer and Board Chairman in 1992. He was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church and was instrumental in the development of the Seminary Scholarship Fund. Dean was an avid NDSU Bison fan and longtime member of Teammakers. Dean was a life member of the American Legion, founding President of the Red River Valley Chapter National Association of Accountants, President and member of Rough Riders Kiwanis, and member of Elks and Eagles.
Dean died Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in Essentia Health in Fargo.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Nancy Smiley, Dallas, TX; Jill (Tom) Anderson, Savage, MN; Barbara Ferguson, Fargo; son, David (Barb) Ferguson, West Fargo; sisters, Lois Stewart and Rita (Don) Brinkman, both of Carson, ND; four grandchildren, Justin Anderson, Jennifer (Andrew) Bohlman, Kelsie (Matt) Tucholke, and Ben Ferguson; great-grandchildren, Bennett and Blake Bohlman.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Floyd D. Ferguson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Olivet Seminary Fund, c/o Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo.
