Brian Steven Fredrickson, age 39, of Fargo, ND and Plymouth, MN. Born August 19, 1983; passed away November 18, 2022, of natural causes due to alcoholism. He graduated from Armstrong High School in Plymouth, MN where his classmates elected him senior class president. He was active in Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and was named Viking Council’s Outstanding Eagle Scout for 2002.
Brian graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, majoring in political science. He went on to earn a master’s degree in social studies education from Teachers College at Columbia University in New York City.
He taught in and helped develop the leadership minor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He later was an assistant professor for the University of Minnesota’s Extension Service in Moorhead, MN, teaching leadership and community development to hundreds of people in communities across northwestern Minnesota.
Brian was kind, gregarious, fun-loving, and giving of his time and attention to others. He was a true friend to many. He enjoyed family gatherings, photography, fishing, amateur “ham” radio, and playing video games with his friends. He adored his pet cat, Eevee.
He is survived by his parents, Steven R. and Cynthia L. Fredrickson of Plymouth, his brother, Neal R. Fredrickson of Minneapolis, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large group of friends and colleagues. A celebration of life service will be held in the Twin Cities in the Spring of 2023. His family urges others who struggle with alcoholism to accept professional help.
