Bonnie Kay (Stiegel) Grosz died at home in West Fargo, ND on December 31, 2014. She was born December 30, 1952 in Perham, MN to Leonard and Eleanor Stiegel. She grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1971. She worked as a nursing assistant prior to attending North Dakota State School of Science. After obtaining her Licensed Practical Nurse degree in 1974, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Bonnie met David Grosz at the beach in Detroit Lakes in the summer of 1972, and they married on August 14, 1976 at Pelican Lake, MN. During David’s subsequent education, they lived in Grand Forks, ND, Minneapolis, MN, Fargo, and finally Madison, Wisconsin, where their first child, Jessica, was born in 1983. They returned to Fargo in 1984 and their son, Michael, was born in 1985.
In Fargo, Bonnie created and fostered a warm and supportive home for her children and husband and played an active role in her children’s schools and activities. She returned to school and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Moorhead State University in 1995.
Bonnie was involved in various non-profit organizations and enjoyed spending time with friends playing bunco, bridge, and golf. Above all, she loved her time spent with family and friends at her lake home on Pelican Lake. We are grateful she was able to spend one last summer at her new lake home, located where she and David celebrated their wedding 38 years ago.
Bonnie will be remembered as someone exceedingly warm and personable, who created meaningful relationships with the many people whose path she crossed. She provided unfaltering support and compassion to her friends and family during times of need. The outpouring of love and encouragement she received during her year-long battle with cancer is a testament to the way she treated others during her life. We are all fortunate to have been able to call her our family or our friend.
Many thanks to all those who provided care and support for Bonnie during her illness, including medical providers, religious leaders, family members, and friends.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, David, and children, Jessica and Michael, all of West Fargo, ND; brothers, Lee (Pat) Bond, Norman, OK, Ron (Sally) Bond, Vancouver, WA, and Terry (Wendy) Stiegel, Detroit Lakes, MN; sisters, Lorraine Fandrich, West Fargo, ND and Judy (Asghar) Fakhary, Spring Lake Park, MN; sister-in-law, Jennifer (John) Smith, Louisville, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.
