Bob Bailey, 95, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Elim Care Center in Fargo.
Robert Llewellyn Bailey was born in Glentana, MT on October 30, 1923 to Frank and Mabel (Kaegi) Bailey. He was the youngest of four children, joining his sisters, Cecile, Audrey and Marjorie. He attended school in Opheim, MT and graduated in 1941. He started attending college at Northern State University in Havre, MT until the start of WWII.
Bob and his sister, Marge, went to work in the shipyards in Oakland, CA where he worked as a welder. He returned to MT where he met and married Betty Gravunder on May 12, 1946 in Opheim, MT. They moved southwest of Sutton, ND where they farmed and raised two sons and four daughters. Bob had been a member of the Sutton IOOF, the Valley City Eagles Club, the Cooperstown Country Club, and the Sutton Methodist Church.
Bob enjoyed fishing with his neighbors at Lake of the Woods, bowling, golfing, and playing pinochle. After Bob retired, he wintered in Carlsbad, CA, later moving to Oceanside, CA. Due to a decline in health he returned to live in Fargo, ND.
Bob is survived by his children, Robert F. Bailey, Sutton, ND; Vicki Johnston, Eagan, MN; Bonnie (Pat) Abel, Dillsburg, PA; Cheryl (Rod) Hoffman, Hillsboro, ND; Rebecca Boyer, Albany, OR and Bryan Bailey, Fargo, ND; twelve grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three sisters.
