Beverly Hildora (Olson) Weinkauf, 76, died Sunday February 10, 2013 at Trinity Health in Minot, ND.
Beverly was born January 9, 1937 in Pelican Rapids, MN to Melvin and Clara Olson. Beverly grew up in the country and went to country school. She attended Pelican Rapids High School, then Detroit Lakes Business College. She went on to work in a business office.
In 1957, she married Donald Weinkauf and moved to Fargo. After Donald passed away she met Paul Hemple. In 2009 she moved to Williston, ND.
Beverly was a cook at the VA Hospital in Fargo for several years. Then she joined the Senior Companion Program, where she was a companion for ladies in their homes. She was also a Head Start grandma, where she was called “Grandma Bev”. At the same time she was a ticket taker for the Red Hawks baseball games. She enjoyed being with people and will always be remembered sitting with her embroidery, playing solitaire, or working on her word search. She especially loved cooking and baking for her family, and was famous for her potato salad, baked beans, and of course her banana bread.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Clara Olson; and the two loving men in her life, Donald Weinkauf (1985); and Paul Hempel (1987).
She is survived by her children, Douglas (Cheryl) Weinkauf; Lori (Wayne) Rheault; Becky (Paul) Yourk; Jerry Weinkauf; Paul (Laurie) Hempel; Paula Hempel; Pauline (Jeff) Cunningham; and Paullette (Darcy) Orth; sister of her heart, Janice Engen; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beverly will be sadly missed by all, and we will always recall her smile, her laughter, and her sense of humor.
