Beverly “Bev” Hoff, 94, died peacefully on June 28, 2023, at Hospice House in Fargo. She was born April 28, 1929, to Curnell and Bessie Leverson in Fargo, where she was a life-long resident. She was the cherished wife of Goodwin A. Hoff of Fargo.
Goodwin and Bev became acquainted through youth activities at First Lutheran Church in Fargo and through a friendship with Bev’s older brother. Their friendship grew into a loving relationship, and they were married on September 15, 1950. They continued to be devoted to each other during their 72 years of marriage.
Bev’s first job during her high school years was ironing shirts for a dollar an hour. After graduating from Fargo Central High School, she did clerical work at First Lutheran Church and then worked as a clerk for the Fargo Health Department. Bev started providing child care in their home at the request of a neighbor. Later, Bev worked part-time at Health Department Immunization and Flu-shot clinics and during NDSU student registration.
Bev was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Fargo. Over the years, she was involved in many areas, including the church choir, wedding coordinator, Sunday school teacher, and kitchen hospitality. She continued to attend the weekly Knit and Crochet Group until her death. Bev was a regular attendee of the Wednesday Organ Recital and Wednesday Fellowship.
Bev loved her family and traveled to see and support them wherever they lived and whenever possible. She enjoyed sewing and made many sweatshirts for her grandchildren when they were young. She was always ready with coffee and cookies for visitors. Bev was known for sending greeting cards to a long list of family and friends each month. In recent years, Bev kept busy at her home in Bethany on 42nd with jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles, knitting, and caring for her husband, Goodwin.
Bev is survived by her three daughters and their spouses, Cindy (Bob) Splichal of Fargo, Marcia (Steve) Pitzenberger of Lansdale, PA, Laurie (Owen) Hamre of West Fargo; brothers, Chet (Betty) Leverson, Dick (Bev) Leverson; sister, Sonja (Dave) Teigen; five grandchildren, Brian (Jes) Splichal, Laura (Rob) Maeyaert, Jason Splichal, Dan Hamre, Sarah (Bryan) Gefroh; and nine great-grandchildren, Addison, Serena and Cade Gefroh, Reese Hamre, Cooper and Zoey Maeyaert, Daniel, Emmitt and Chet Splichal.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Curnell and Bessie Leverson.
