Beverly Joan Fossum passed away peacefully on May 16, 2019 at The Pillars Home Hospice Care Center in Oakdale, Minnesota. She was 84 years old.
Beverly Joan Fossum was born to Albert and Ella Weihrauch on a farm south of Columbia on September 11, 1934. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, SD. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1952. She attended a technical college in Minneapolis, MN to become a lab technician.
She worked in Hazen, North Dakota and in Aberdeen, South Dakota as a Lab Technician. She also worked at Dakota Clinic in Fargo, North Dakota for several years.
She met Erwin Fossum while both were working in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and they were married on February 23, 1957 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Columbia, SD. They moved to Fargo in 1959, to Rochester, MN in 1968, and back to Fargo in 1969.
After raising her two daughters, Carol and Cathy, she returned to the workforce as a Mortgage Lender for State Bank of Fargo where she worked until retirement.
She enjoyed traveling to Arizona, spending time with her sisters, fishing, and taking road trips with Erwin on many adventures. She enjoyed knitting and made beautiful afghans for her grandchildren. She was a very talented seamstress as well. She was an amazing cook and her spaghetti sauce cannot be outdone (even with the recipe).
She is survived by; daughters, Carol (Scott Gardner) and Cathy (Paul Gjevre) both from Cottage Grove, MN; two granddaughters, Maddy Gardner (Cottage Grove, MN) and Sydney Gardner (Cottage Grove, MN) and one grandson, Jake Gjevre (Mankato, MN); two sisters, Norma Dennert (Don Dennert) from Aberdeen, SD and Joan Conkling, (York, NE); one sister-in-law, Hazel (John Badgely) of Mobridge, SD; 8 nephews, and 3 nieces. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Paula Kay, and one stillborn; her parents, sister, Carol, and her husband, Erwin Fossum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
