Betty Ann (Kopach) Stensgard was born on June 24, 1928, to Michael and Olga. She had an older sister Marie and a younger sister Lorraine. Betty grew up during the Depression and worked her entire life, starting at the family grocery store/ gas station.
She married Orlyen Stensgard and had eight boys: Chuck, Dan, Ron, Gary, Gregg, Curt, Thomas, and Keith. Even though the boys kept her busy, she always had time to help with church and school events, especially wrestling. She loved spending family time at Lake Maude, where she raised her children and later grandchildren. That lake home was filled with games, water fun, and tasty food, including Betty's famous pancakes. It was where family would meet up, and there was always room at Betty's table for anyone...cousin, friend, or random guest, she hosted and fed them all.
Betty's life was all about her family; she was constantly surrounded by her children, their friends, family cousins, and later grandchildren. Betty had a way of making everyone feel welcome and special. She was the rock of the Stensgard family but also a safe space where people could land. She will be remembered for her legacy of love, hard work, and feisty, indomitable spirit.
