Betty Maxwell, 87, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Essentia Palliative Care in Fargo.

Betty Woitzel was born to Alfred and Nellie Woitzel on July 22, 1934, on the family farm near Gardner, ND. She attended school in Gardner and graduated as Valedictorian.

Betty married Burton G. Maxwell on November 20, 1953.

Betty attended Business College in Fargo and started her career at NWBT in the engineering department. She was a homemaker during the years their 4 children were young. She was a school bus assistant and classroom helper before moving on to work as a warranty and title clerk at 2 local car dealerships.

Upon retirement Betty and Burton had a travel trailer and spent their winters in Bullhead City, AZ and summers at the lake. Shortly after Burton passed away Betty moved to Bethany Gables Assisted Living in Fargo.
Betty was an avid reader, always had a large garden and loved to go fishing.

Betty is survived by her children: Patricia (William) Berlin Muck, Fargo, Annette Maxwell, Frazee, MN, Fred Maxwell, Prior Lake, MN; 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 step-granddaughter; siblings, Helen Miller, Estes Park, CO, Paul Woitzel (Myrna), Mapleton, ND, Roy Woitzel, Renton, WA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Burton G. Maxwell; son, Bruce G. Maxwell; brother Henry (Charlotte) Woitzel; sister Irene (John) Ulteig and son-in-law, Douglas Berlin
