Betty Jensen, 87, went peacefully home to her waiting savior on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. She was with family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
She was born on November 9, 1926 in Breckenridge, MN to Howard and Frances (Needham) Wheeler. As she grew up, she attended school in Grand Forks and Fargo, graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1944. On December 29, 1945 she married her sweetheart, Lee Jensen and she said it was the happiest day of her life.
Betty and Lee lived in Fargo where she worked as office manager for several businesses, including the Air National Guard, World Book Encyclopedia, Lincoln Mutual Insurance and Kay’s Printing. Job transfers relocated them to several cities, Lincoln, ND; August, ME; St. Louis, MO and finally retiring in Apache Jct., AZ. In 2002, they moved back to Fargo. They owned a lake cabin on Melissa Lake for many years. It was a summer home for them where they welcomed family and friends. Many picnics and laughter were shared there.
Betty’s first enjoyment in life was her family. She spent enormous amounts of time with them and numerous pictures of her family adorned her home. She was an accomplished musician, playing both piano and organ. Desert Chapel Methodist Church in Apache Jct. was privileged to share in her music, as she was the organist there for many years. She loved her music, especially hymns, and would often play either piano or organ in her home. She enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several bridge clubs.
The love and warmth she had for all will be sorely missed, especially by her family and friends. During her last days she said, “I’m not gone, my love never ends and I’ll be with you in your heart.”
Betty is survived by her husband, Lee; three children, Nancy (Lon) Collazo, Tom (Betty) Jensen, and Barb (John) Fraundorfer; five grandchildren, Matt Boelts, Lisa (Scott) Gedrose, Jessica Boelts, Steve Fraundorfer, and Andrew Jensen; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sandy Camras, and granddaughter Cheri Bulger.
