Betty A. Brunsvold passed away peacefully on Friday Sept. 19, 2014
Betty was born March 5, 1928 to John and Marie Jensen Dow City, Iowa. Betty graduated from Iowa State University. She married Maurice Brunsvold on June 22, 1952, and they moved to Fargo in 1959. When her youngest child entered school, she began teaching Home Ec at Ben Franklin and North High, and later entered the restaurant and catering business at Dunvilla and The Oven Door. Thanks to her husband Maury’s employment at WDAY, she also made several appearances on the Party Line TV show doing cooking demonstrations. Betty loved antiques, especially antique dolls, and was a founding member of the Red River Valley Doll Club.
In 1980, she and Maury moved from Fargo to the lake where they enjoyed many years.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Maury, her brother, John Jensen Jr. and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Kristine (Bill Otto) of Spring, TX, Rose (Travis) Dunn and Lisa (Tom) Staiger, and her 4 beloved grandchildren, Gary and Serena Dunn and Katie and Betsy Staiger, all of Moorhead. She is also survived by her sisters Noreen Schloeman of Phoenix, AZ and Edna Davis of Kerman, CA and her sister-in-law Eva Jensen of Dow City, IA, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her family expresses deep gratitude to the loving caregivers of Lutheran Social Services, Hospice of the Red River Valley, and Eventide Nursing Home.
