Bette Ault, 97, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, in her home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Bette Burke Ault was born in Cavalier, ND on March 6, 1922 to Arthur and Florence (Freschette) Burke. In 1944, Bette enlisted in the Navy (W.A.V.E.S.) with basic training at Hunter College in New York City then she was stationed in San Francisco. She received an honorable discharge in August 1946.
On September 1, 1948, Bette married Walter N. Ault. The couple settled in Wolf Point, MT where they raised their two daughters. Bette was active in First Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir.
In 1973 Bette became co-owner of The Classic Shop, a woman’s dress store, retiring in 1984. In 2003 Bette and Walter moved to Fargo. They were happily married for 64 years.
Bette is preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Don and Maurice; two sisters, Glenna and Marion; and a granddaughter, Wendy.
Bette is survived by her children, Kathy (Arthur) Vickers of Lake Park, MN, Nancy (Rory) Haugen of Polson, MT; 6 grandchildren, 6 grandchildren, Jeff (Peggy) Bridges, Matt (Kim) Bridges, Stormy (Becca) Vickers, Andy (Jen) Vickers, Hayleigh (Randy) King, Luke (Megan) Fryar; 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
