Beryl Anita Linnerooth

February 15, 1930 — July 22, 2018

Beryl Anita (Bennett) Linnerooth, peacefully departed this life on Sunday July 22, 2018 in Fargo, ND. She was born February 15, 1930 to Cora and Leonard Bennett in Minneapolis, MN. Beryl was a graduate of Hamline University in St. Paul with a degree in English. It was there that she met the love of her life, James Linnerooth who she was married to for 62 years.

Before starting their family in Minneapolis, Beryl and Jim owned the Dixie Drive Inn in Park Rapids, MN. In 1965 they moved to Fargo, ND where, because of her love for children, she was employed at the YMCA Kindercamp Preschool for 23 years and at Hope Preschool for 14 years. Former students often brought their children to learn from her. Fellow educators became great friends and met each month to stay in touch. Beryl was a devoted mother: leading Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, attending softball and football games, swim meets, concerts, plays and musicals.

Beryl cherished praising the Lord and was a member of First United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She enjoyed helping others, volunteered frequently, was an active member of Circle No. 7, the Fargo Women’s Club and the PEO Sisterhood Chapter am (an organization celebrating the advancement of women).

Beryl had a life-long love of reading and belonged to several book clubs. She loved spending summers in the cottage at the lake where she enjoyed pontoon rides, gardening and spending time with her family. Many happy memories were made each summer when the Linnerooth family hosted a pancake breakfast for their Pine to Palm friends.

Because of Beryl’s generous spirit, gentle kindness and pleasant personality, Beryl was loved by many. Her remarkable influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

Beryl was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her brother Dale Bennett and her beloved cousin Helen (Moupy) Jackson. Beryl leaves to cherish her beautiful life and loving memory many friends, her children and spouses: sons Scott (Sherry) and Richard of Fargo, daughter Nancy (Bruce) of Seattle; grandchildren Justin (Samantha), Jaime (Keith), Connor and Alayna, and two great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Beryl’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 906 1st Avenue South, Fargo, ND.

Those who wish to remember Beryl in a special way may make gifts in her memory to First United Methodist Church.
