Bernice Braseth

Bernice Marie “Bunny” Braseth, 98, died Monday, October 26, 2009, at Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her family. Bernice was born in Arthur, North Dakota, on August 9, 1911, to John and Alma ( Schur) Bettschen. Following her education in Arthur, she graduated from St. Luke’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She was employed at the Fargo Clinic and St. Luke’s Hospital (MeritCare) and later, at the Fargo Nursing Home (Rosewood on Broadway). She was united in marriage to Willford R. “Bill” Braseth on October 16, 1937, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arthur, ND. They made their home in Fargo. She was an active and longtime member of the Olivet Lutheran Church and was an auxiliary member of the Fargo Nursing Home. For the past 11 years, she has been a resident of The Waterford retirement community in Fargo. Bernice is survived by her daughters, Jeanette (Pete) Granger, Warroad, MN; Claudia (Dave) McCulloch, Pelican Rapids, MN; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Bonnie Jones; sister, Frances Arvold; and brother, Burton Bettschen. Memorials may be given to Olivet Lutheran Church Radio Fund, Hospice of the Red River Valley or the charity of your choice. Funeral Service: Friday, October 30, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
