Bernard Halle

Bernard Halle, 86, of Fargo, ND died Friday, September 28, 2007 at Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND. Bernard Halle was born March 13, 1921 at General Hospital in Devils Lake, ND. His parents were C.B. (Ben) and Erna Halle. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake, ND. He attended elementary school in Minnewauken School District #4, walking across the field from his home about a mile each day. He graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1938. Bernard took classes in accounting from LaSalle Extension University, Chicago, IL. He then worked at Harry E. McHugh, Inc., in Devils Lake for 12 years as accounting manager. He later moved to Jamestown and worked at 1st James River National Bank. After he and his wife moved to Fargo, and he worked for General Diesel and Equipment Company until taking a civil service appointment and becoming a Federal Credit Union examiner. While with the Federal Credit Union, he also lived in Rockford, IL, Sioux Falls, SD and Great Falls, MT. After retiring from the Federal Credit Union, he worked at the Fargo Moorhead Community Credit Union and later for several years at the Hector International Airport Parking Facility. Bernard Halle and Laura Laning were married in Moorhead, MN at our Redeemer Lutheran Church on November 19, 1955. They were long-term members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fargo. He was active in the local church and held offices in Lutheran Laymen’s League, both at the local and district levels. He and Laura greatly enjoyed traveling to the district and international conventions. His wife Laura died August of 2000. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents C.B. (Ben) and Erna Halle of Devils Lake, and brother Earl of Grand Forks. He leaves his sister-in-law Helen and their children as well as nieces and nephews on Laura’s side of the family, especially caregiver and niece Marlene Buus of Fargo. Funeral: Monday, October 1, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church. Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND.
