Benjamin Rau

Benjamin Jacob Rau was born June 16, 1920 in Linton, North Dakota, to Jacob and Regina (Fischer) Rau. He passed away at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, under the care of the wonderful staff of Rosewood and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Ben attended school in Linton. On October 15, 1944, he married Florence Ochsner in Linton. They farmed east of Linton until 1961. In 1961, they moved with their family to Fargo where he worked at Paul-Mark Preserves, Fargo Foundry, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and NDSU. He retired in 1984. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ernest; sister, Alvina; and sister, Bertha. His survivors include his wife, Florence; daughters, Karen (John) Ringsrud and Shirley (Jim) Kondelis; and son, Todd Rau; brother, Alton Rau; and sister, Martha (Rau) Haugen; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
