Barry Harold Hanson

April 23, 1947 — January 7, 2025

Barry Harold Hanson was born on 4/23/1947 to his parents, Bernhardt Harvey Hanson and Faye Eloise (Thomte) Hanson in Fargo, ND. His parents brought him home to Lisbon where he lived, went to the Lisbon Public School, and attended the Episcopal church.

The family moved to a new home on Oak Street next to the town physician when Barry was 10, where he lived until he graduated. He joined the Navy right after graduation in 1965. After Basic training he attended school to learn electronics. Once he completed the training, he was stationed at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Oak Harbor, WA, where he remained until discharge in September, 1969. While in the Navy he met his future wife, Marcia. They were married in Lisbon when they moved back from Washington State. While in Washington he used the GI bill to further his electronics education.

Barry held several jobs in electronics before he started his own trucking company in the late 1980's, hauling construction equipment in the tri state area. After selling his trucking company, Barry went to work for Butler Manufacturing, hauling Caterpillar equipment all around the country until he retired.

After that, he started a computer repair company, which he ran out of his home until he developed cancer in 2016. He put up a brave fight against the disease until it ended his life 1-7-2025.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Faye, and brother-in-law, Art Pederson.

He has three surviving sisters, Sharon Pederson, Sandra (Doug) Norby, and Brenda (Bob) Hodny. He was a proud patriot and veteran, and will be buried at the Fargo National Cemetery.
