Avis Berg

Avis Lorraine Berg, 86, of Fargo, ND died on February 17, 2012 at home surrounded by family. Avis was born on July 17, 1925 to Al and Jenny Byers. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Berg, her parents and 2 brothers Bud Byers and Bill Byers. Avis attended Fargo Central High School. After high school she worked as a bank teller. Her last job was working for the city of Fargo in the Water Department. She retired in 1992 after 29 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Avis enjoyed bowling, traveling, country music and puzzles. Avis never knew a stranger. She loved being around people. Avis is survived by her children, Nancy Cooper and her husband Henry of Longmont, Colo. Barb Brooks and her husband Dan who also resides in Longmont, Colo. Steve Berg of Fargo, N.D. David Berg and his wife Debbie of Fargo, N.D. Avis is also survived by her grandchildren Jacob and Jessica Berg of Fargo, N.D. Cory and Justin Berg of Kansas City, Mo. Brittany Brooks of Milliken, Colo. She has seven great grandchildren Konner, Ruby, Gunnar and Hartley Berg of Kansas City, Mo. Kailie & Bryce Stofa of Milliken, Colo. She leaves behind her sister Betty Nystul of Fargo, N.D. Many nephews and nieces, Billy and Kathy Byers of Moorhead, Minn, their children Jake Byers and family of Minneapolis, Minn. Jane Byers of Moorhead, Minn. Kay and Spike Nordenstrom of Pelican Rapids, Minn. Their children Denise Christianson and her husband Roger and son Vance. Mike Nordenstrom of Fargo, N.D, his children Adam, April and Cory; Joanie and Paul Salo, their children Matt Pollock and family of Davenport, N.D. and Jenny Pollock of Seattle, Wash. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer donations to the Red River Valley Hospice. They helped Avis and the family immensely the last few weeks. Funeral: Wednesday, February 22, 2012, 1:00 PM at First United Methodist Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Davenport Cemetery, Davenport, ND.
