Avis Arntson, 70, of Fargo, ND, died peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2008, at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Avis Marie Arntson was born on August 20, 1937, to Neuman and Esther (Kellerman) Arntson in Lisbon, ND. She started grade school in the Owego School and then attended in Sheldon, ND, where she also graduated from high school in 1955. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. Avis lived in Fargo for many years. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church including time spent as a Sunday school teacher. She also worked as a secretary at First Lutheran and also held various other jobs while living in Fargo. Avis moved back to the farm near Sheldon, where she took good care of her parents until their deaths. A talented pianist, Avis filled their home with music. She worked tirelessly to keep the house clean and anyone who visited welcomed and well-fed. She loved the outdoors and could be found cross-country skiing, biking, and gardening. Sewing and canning were common past-times, and she recently learned the art of rosemalling. Avis loved to read and was a reliable letter writer and friend. Avis was active in many events including her work on the planning committee for Sheldon’s 125th Anniversary celebration, in which she took great pride. Avis moved back to Fargo in July of 2007, where she lived a good life at Bethany Homes. She made many friends there and took part in most of the activities that were offered. She kept very busy with countless visits from friends and family, knitting scarves as gifts, reading dozens of books, and keeping in touch with those she loved. She cared so much for her family, and especially loved her great-nieces and nephews. Avis was preceded in death by her great-nephew, Jaxon Wiederholt; her parents, Neuman and Esther (Kellerman) Arntson; and her brother-in-law, Richard Wiederholt. Avis is survived by her sisters, Karen (Herman) Pederson and Sharon Wiederholt; nieces and nephews, Brent (Jenn) Wiederholt, Brenda (Ben) Kirkeby, Bradley (Christa) Wiederholt, Beth (John) Warford, and Susan Pederson; and great-nieces and nephews, Daysia Wiederholt, Ashton Wiederholt, Alexis Kirkeby, Cooper Kirkeby, Samuel Wiederholt, Chloe Warford, and Clare Warford. Visitation: will be in Enderlin at Armstrong Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, from 1:00 -5:00 p.m. Funeral: will be held in Fargo at First Lutheran Church on Friday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m.
