Arthur (Buster) L. Murphy, Sr. was born in Calumet, Alabama to Alexander and Laura Belle Hopson Murphy, December 29, 1936. He was the third child of eleven. Arthur found Christ at an early age and was baptized at Little Zion Baptist Church, Bishop, West Virginia. He departed this life Tuesday, November 19, 2019. He was 82 years old.
He was educated at Bishop Elementary, Newhall Elementary, and graduate of Excelsior High School, War, WV. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United State Air Force and served our country for over 40 plus years. He fought twice in the Vietnam war. He traveled to Germany, China, Japan, Korea, Guam, Amsterdam, Spain, to name just a few. He enjoyed playing in jazz bands in the military. He retired at Grand Forks Air Force Base, Grand Forks, North Dakota. He resided in Fargo North. Dakota. Arthur (Buster’s) career changed to work for Valley Bus Company, Fargo, North Dakota.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alexander and Laura B. Hopson Murphy; Brother Robert E. Murphy; sisters; Leola Murphy, Claudine Murphy Cobb, Mozilla Murphy Westmoreland. He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy, his son Arthuro Murphy Hijona; one sister Brenda J. Murphy-Calloway; five brothers, Roy A. Murphy, Sylmar, CA, William H. Murphy, Apopka, FL, Ray L. Murphy, Cincinnati, OH, Bernard G. Murphy, Bluefield, WV and Wilson C. Murphy, Lancaster, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends Cordell Sindino, Don Larson, Mike Mollenhoff and Mary Johnson.
