Arne Jacob Brandvig

March 6, 1931 — April 5, 2017

Arne J. Brandvig passed away April 5, 2017 at the age of 86. He was born March 6, 1931 to Adolph and Agnes (Skibsted) Brandvig at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fargo, ND. He was raised on the family farm near Harwood, ND. Later they moved to Fargo. In his younger years he delivered newspapers and set up bowling pins.

Arne graduated from Central High School and Dakota Business College. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954. He was in Germany during the Korean War.

Arne married Marie E. Fagerlie on March 6, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Officiating was Reverend Michael D. Furney, his sister Elaine’s husband. Mike married and baptized most of the family. They made their home in Fargo. He worked for Mpls. Moline, WJ Lane Real Estate. From 1972 until his retirement March 17, 1995 he worked for Housing and Urban Development.

Arne and Marie truly enjoyed family events and traveling. Eventually they would spend many winters in Arizona. They took a trip to Norway with only a picture of the Brandvig farm and a town. They did find the relatives who are still running the farm. They also found some of his mother’s relatives. Their other great get away for over 30 years was their cabin on Big Pine Lake; many, many good times and beautiful sunsets and good neighbors.

Arne maintained a great attitude till the end. Most everyone remembers him as a jokester.
Many thanks to Three Links Care Center, Northfield, MN. Love you tons Daisy Land and Activities people.
