Arline Astrup

Arline Tiegen Astrup, age 87 of Fargo, ND, passed away December 1, 2019. A longtime resident of Fargo, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a role model and inspiration to many.

Arline was born to Theodore and Florence (Qualey) Tiegen on December 22, 1931, in Grenora, ND. She graduated from Grenora High School in 1950 and North Dakota State Agriculture College in 1954. Following college, she taught school for 6 years. In 1958, she married Odell Astrup, also of Grenora, ND. They lived in Grand Forks, ND; Plentywood, MT; and Missoula, MT before moving to Fargo in 1963.

Arline was very civic-minded and volunteered many hours to her church. She was an avid supporter of youth hockey (Fargo North Raiders), youth baseball, and the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at North Dakota State University. She enjoyed cheering for the Bison and the Twins. She loved sporting events, spending time with her family at her lake home on Pelican Lake, and playing cards in several bridge groups. She was an expert knitter, seamstress, and gardener.

Arline was preceded in death by her husband, Odell (1996), her parents, her sister, Florence Myrdal, and brother, Ted Tiegen.

She is survived by her sons - Michael (Beth), Keith (Sue), Thomas (Stephanie), and Kenneth (Pam); and grandchildren - Jane (Tyler) Crosby, Tommy, Bobby, Lynn, Abby, Kate, Anna, Emma, Harrison, Nolan, Lindsey, Cailen and Anika Astrup. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews including her nieces, the daughters she never had, Jane Boese and Kay Myrdal.

Arline and Odell were members of Hope Lutheran Church. Memorials are preferred to the Hope Lutheran Foundation.
