Arlene M. Sussex, 83, of Fargo passed away on August 30, 2016 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Arlene was born to Simon and Mabel (Sund) Simonson in Blabon, North Dakota on June 30, 1933.
She grew up on a farm near Hope, ND and attended school in both Blabon and Hope. She graduated from NDAC, now NDSU, in 1955 with a B.S. in Home Economics Education. Arlene married Robert Sussex on June 18, 1956 in Blabon, ND.
Arlene was the organist for Hope Congregational Church for many years, and taught piano and sewing. She was involved with Sons of Norway, Order of the Eastern Star Mecca #5, and the Study Club of Fargo. She loved to sew and bake. There were always homemade buns, chocolate-chip cookies and caramel rolls for all to enjoy.
Arlene is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Kent (Deb) Sussex, Hortonville, WI and Shari (Kevin) Ihry, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Ryan (Kaysie) and Kimberly Sussex, and Robert (Katie), Laura, Peter, and Victoria Ihry; great-grandchildren, Rhett and Ada Sussex and Miles Ihry. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Bill Parker (Marilyn), Don (Lorraine) Sussex and nephews, Brad (Marty), Mitch (Peggy), Doug (Peggy), Dan (Shelly) Parker and Boyd (Kathy) Sussex.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Arliss Parker.
