Arlene K. (Mehl) Boyum, 88, passed away peacefully February 12, 2019 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Arlene was born in Buxton, ND on April 27, 1930 to Arthur and Alice (Anderson) Mehl. She grew up in Buxton with her two siblings, Ellsworth and her twin sister, Geraldine. After high school Arlene attended Moorhead Sate Business College for 2 years while working at “The Store Without a Name”. After leaving Moorhead, she moved to St. Paul, MN and worked for Travelers Insurance.
She met and married Carlos “Bud” Boyum of Byron, MN and they started their lives together in Inver Grove Heights, MN where they raised their children, Robert and Jeannie.
After Bud’s passing (1975), she went to work for Northwest Airlines and she worked there for many years until her retirement. Later, she moved to Fargo to be closer to her twin sister Geraldine. Arlene worked at Hector International Airport for many years, including the Gift Shop, until her health began to decline at age 87.
Arlene is survived by her son, Robert; daughter, Jeannie (Todd) Hillier, of Hoople, ND; sister, Geraldine Sunde, Fargo, ND (formerly of Felton, MN) and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carlos (1975) and her brother, Ellsworth.
A Memorial Service in her honor will be at 2pm, Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be one hour prior the service.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date, where Arlene will be laid to rest with her husband, Carlos.
