Arden K. Larson was born September 15, 1936 to Willie and Emma (Wang) Larson in Oslo, MN. After a ten month battle with multiple myeloma he passed away on October 23, 2011. Arden was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Zion Lutheran Church in Oslo. He graduated from Oslo High School in 1954 and was Oslo's first Eagle Scout. He delivered the Minneapolis Tribune by boat during the spring flood of 1950. Arden was known in the community as "Sonny". After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served in Korea. Following his discharge, he attended UND, Grand Forks and NDSU, Fargo. He worked for the Corp of Engineers in Riverdale, ND until 1960 when he moved to Fargo and began his employment with the Veterans Administration until his retirement in 1995. Following retirement he worked part-time at Adesa Auto Aucion. On May 12, 1962 he was united in marriage to Myrna Wurl. They made their home in Fargo and were blessed with three children. Arden will be greatly missed by his wife, Myrna, his children, Steve (Dena) Fargo, Mike (Stacey) Tenafly, NJ and Kristi, Fargo. Grandchildren: Trey, Jami, Rachel, Ian and Tayler; his sister Lorraine (Jim) Goodijohn, Fargo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Emma, his brother, Maynard and sister, Leone. Arden was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as an Elder and on various committees. He was a man of strong faith and was devoted to his family. His hobbies included hunting and bowling and he was an avid sports fan. He volunteered his time coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and the VA Softball team. He was a strong supporter of the American Legion Baseball program. Arden was a kind and caring person who always enjoyed a cup of coffee with friends. A celebration of Arden's life will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation: Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND and one hour prior to services at the church. Prayer Service: Thursday, 7:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
