Archie Solberg

Archie Carlisle Solberg, 72, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, August 12, 2007, at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Archie was born to Edwin and Mabel Solberg April 30, 1935, in Harvey, ND. He attended NDSU and was a member of Theta Chi fraternity and ROTC. He married Loretta Margaret Melting in October of 1956. Archie worked in the grocery business for 30 years, working for Red Owl in Fargo, Moorhead, Huron and Brookings, SD. He owned and operated stores in Madison, SD, and Wishek, ND. Archie then worked at Lutheran Social Services in the Refugee Resettlement Program, before retiring in 2000. He was a proud member of the Elks and served as Exalted Ruler in Brookings, SD. Archie was an avid sports fan but his true loves were fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Loretta; daughter, Deb Solberg; three sons, Scott (Michelle); James E.; and Michael (Michele); seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Archie was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Earl and Duane. Funeral Service: Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 11:00 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
