Anton Kania, 76, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, December 16, 2007, at his home in Fargo, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Anton William Kania was born August 22, 1931, in Courtenay, North Dakota, son of Anton Edward and Elsie (Voight) Kania. He served in Korea as a Sgt. First Class and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Anton was a lifetime member of the VFW, Fargo American Legion and Am Vets. Anton married Mary Morris December 7, 1952, in Valley City, North Dakota. He worked as a foreman for Robert Gibb and Sons for nearly 20 years. Anton is survived by his children, Charles (Debra) Morris, Springfield, MO; Anton E. Kania; Walter Kania, both of Fargo, ND; Kevin Kania, Farmington, MN; Marilyn Buzick, Barnesville, MN; Phillip Kania, Devils Lakes, ND; Michael Kania, Bismarck, ND; Linda (Tony) Martin, Watertown, SD; Steven Kania, Fargo, ND; two brothers, Lawrence Kania, Flagstaff, AZ; and Orville Kania, Litchville, ND; two sisters, Agnes Trienen, Valley City, ND; and Elsie Cox, Marion, ND; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; parents, Anton E. and Elsie; brothers, Floyd, Calvin, Robert and Alfred. Memorials preferred to the Roger Maris Cancer Center, MeritCare. Funeral Service: Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at 1:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Chapel, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, December 18, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Vigil: Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
