Annette Marie Wasfaret, 76, passed away peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care on June 1, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Annette was born in Mandan, ND on July 13, 1940, daughter of Oscar and Margaret (Olson) Kulland. She was raised on farms near Minot, ND and later moved to Minnesota with her family. Annette graduated from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1958. She married her high school sweetheart Ronald Wasfaret on June 27, 1959. Annette was a stay-at-home mother until she returned to college as a full-time student at the age of 29. She earned her education degree and taught in the Moorhead School System for 30 years. In her retirement, Annette assisted with vision and hearing screening for children in Moorhead. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, along with several professional and social organizations.
Annette had a lifelong love for learning and history. She enjoyed sewing, going to movies, attending concerts, reading, watching programs on the Public Broadcasting System, visiting with the "Breakfast Bunch" at the Moorhead Fry'n Pan restaurant, taking trips to the cabin at Tulaby Lake, stopping for a treat at the Dairy Queen and most importantly, spending time with family.
Annette is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ron, son Mark (Jackie) Wasfaret of Moorhead, MN, daughters Suzanne (Dwight) Eiken of Williston, ND and Beth (James) Kemmer of Fargo, ND, 5 grandchildren: Zach Eiken, Ben Wasfaret, Tyler Eiken, Austin Kemmer and Maddisyn Kemmer, two sisters: Lana (Myron) Anker of Shakopee, MN, Marsha (Bob) Dietz of Hutchinson, MN and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Patricia Gunderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Prairie Public Broadcasting or the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota and North Dakota.
