Anne Cronk

April 2, 1930 — October 27, 2008

Anne Beatrice (Whitman) Cronk passed away October 27, 2008, in San Diego. She was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on April 2, 1930, to Horace T. Whitman and Beatrice (Young) Whitman. Anne was the beloved wife of Leonard H, who passed away in 1996. She was the loving mother of three children, Diane Cronk, of El Cajon; Andrew Cronk, of San Diego; and son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Shauna Cronk of Lakeside. She is also survived by grandson, Tyler Cronk, of Lakeside; brother, and sister-in-law, Horace T. and Laura Whitman II, of Vacaville, CA; one niece and two nephews. Anne married Leonard in 1951, in Fargo and they moved to San Diego in 1956. They were original charter members of the congregational church of Mission Village in San Diego, now the Mission Village Christian Fellowship. Anne taught school for 20 years and retired from Jamul Elementary School in the late 1980’s. She and Leonard enjoyed desert camping in the winter, and traveling the 50 states. Summers were spent at the family cottage at Pelican Lake, in Minnesota. Anne touched the hearts of many women who are members of the organizations that she belonged to, including, the California Retired Teachers Association and the Association of Family and Consumer Sciences. Finding an interest in her family genealogy led Anne to join eleven patriotic organizations- all of them requiring proof of lineage. Including: the National Society Dames of the Court of Honor, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists, National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, The Mayflower Society, National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865, National Society Women Descendents of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, and the Continental Society Daughters of Indian Wars. Serving as an officer in most of these organizations she was an amazing mentor and a loving and generous friend. Anne will return to Fargo to rest beside her beloved Leonard. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Mission Village Christian Fellowship, or the Linares Chapter NSDAR .3050 Monarch St. S.D. CA. 92123. Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 10:00 AM, at Plymouth Congregational Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Tuesday, November 4, 2008, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Riverside Mausoleum, Fargo, ND.
