Ann Robinson Dahl

Ann Robinson Dahl died on January 20, 2023, at home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley, and surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Ann was born on June 27, 1946, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Bill and Valera Robinson. She attended Girls' Preparatory School in Chattanooga from grades 7-12 before attending and graduating from the University of Kentucky in Lexington with a major in social work. In college, she was involved in Chi Omega Sorority, student government, and Campus Crusade for Christ. After her graduation in 1968, she joined the full-time staff of Cru, serving at the Universities of Wisconsin, Georgia, and Florida over a seven-year period.

In 1972, at the University of Georgia, Ann met and married fellow staff member Howard Dahl, the love of her life and her lifelong best friend. Their fifty years of marriage were blessed with three wonderful children and eight adorable grandchildren, as well as uncommon companionship and adventures in travel around the world. After their move to Fargo, Ann earned a Master of Arts in Counseling. As a social worker, she helped place 310 children with loving adoptive parents; she also enjoyed her time serving on the board of the FM Symphony and on the board of Valley Christian Counseling Center. Above all, she delighted most in the time spent caring for and nurturing her children and grandchildren.

Ann was very active in her faith community, Salem Evangelical Free Church, where she attended and led Bible Studies for 43 years. She faithfully walked alongside hundreds of women as a teacher, friend, encourager, and fellow disciple of Jesus Christ.

This girl from Chattanooga also delighted in joining Howard in the worldwide travel his career afforded them, often joining him in Russia, Eastern Europe, Ukraine, and her beloved England; in recent years, they especially treasured their annual weeks with Ann's siblings in the North Carolina mountains. Closer to home, Ann was a gracious hostess at her Pelican Lake home, enjoying summers with her children and grandchildren as well as entertaining friends from near and far with a genuine and open-hearted welcome.

All who knew Ann were blessed by her humble wisdom, integrity, curiosity, warmth, sense of fun, and a bright and beautiful smile that beamed out from an even brighter and more beautiful spirit. Ann's kindness, generosity, and deep lifelong joy were rooted in her own experience of the love of Jesus Christ.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Valera Robinson. She is survived by her husband, Howard; her siblings Ted (Patty) Robinson and Julie (Lee) Lovett; her children, Jonathan (Sarah) Dahl of San Francisco, Stephanie (Ben) Hasbrouck of West Fargo, and Andrew (Aneela) Dahl of Chicago; and grandchildren, Annabel and Graham Dahl, William, Thomas, Theodore, and Charles Hasbrouck, and Elias and Ezer Dahl.
